Beetroot

March — October

A growing export crop in Spain

Fresh beetroot is a small but growing export crop in Spain, driven mainly by demand from Northern European supermarkets, organic markets, and premium retail.
Production is concentrated in southern Spain, especially Cádiz and Andalucía, where the climate allows winter and spring harvesting for European supply gaps. Unlike carrots, beetroot is primarily classified by root colour, followed by shape (round or cylindrical) and market segment.
