Fresh Produce Supply Spain
Potato
Spain – a leading producer of Potato
Spain is one of Europe’s major fresh potato producers and an important trading hub for both early potatoes and ware potatoes. Main potato producing regions in Spain are Andalucía, Murcia, Castilla y León, Galicia and Valencia. Spain’s southern regions are especially important because they produce some of the earliest potatoes in Europe, supplying EU supermarkets before northern European harvests begin. Spain has several harvest windows because of climate diversity. The strongest export window is usually from April until June.
