Spain is one of the largest garlic producers and exporters in Europe and a major global exporter. Spanish garlic is highly regarded for its flavour, long shelf life, and quality. Production is concentrated in Castilla-La Mancha, Andalucía, Castilla y León, Extremadura, and Valencia.

New harvest season from May to August; stored crop is usually available until April.

Spain produces several distinct garlic types, purple garlic being the top one.

Purple garlic

Spain’s flagship export garlic. The outer skin is white and the cloves covered with a deep purple skin. A garlic with strong flavour, premium quality. Varieties like Morado de Las Pedroñeras and Morado de Cuenca.

White garlic

Both the skin and the outer leaves of the bulb are white. A garlic with high yield and long shelf life. Varieties like Blanco Español, Spring Blanco, Messidrome, Germidour and Thermidrome.

Fresh green garlic

Sold with green leaves.
