Spain – a top winter supplier in Europe
Spain is one of Europe’s main winter raspberry suppliers, alongside Morocco and Portugal, with main production area in Huelva. Raspberries are extremely delicate, with a very short shelf life compared to other berries, and a sweet-tart flavour and bright red colour.
Varieties
Early-season varieties (Oct — Jan)
Good firmness for early season, moderate sweetness and medium size. Varieties like Adelita, Torpero and Kweli.
Mid-season varieties (Feb — May)
Core export window; good quality, best balance of size, sweetness and firmness. Varieties like Enrosadira, Kweli, Glen Ample and Tulameen.
Late-season varieties (May — Jun)
Good firmness, slightly smaller berries. Varieties like Lagorai, Heritage and Kwanza.
